Last reviewed: 21 May 2026
Important Notice — Please Read
By placing an order on masjidbbq.com, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). These Terms set out the legal agreement between you and Masjid As-Salaam in connection with our annual community BBQ.
These Terms include important information about cancellation rights, allergens, collection requirements, refunds, and liability. Some sections affect your legal rights — please read them carefully before placing your order. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not place an order.
If you have any questions about these Terms, contact us before ordering using the details in section 29.
1. About These Terms
1.1. These Terms apply to all orders placed through masjidbbq.com and to all attendance, collection, and consumption of food or beverages provided in connection with the Masjid As-Salaam annual community BBQ event (the "Event"). The specific date, time and details of each year's Event are published on masjidbbq.com.
1.2. These Terms form a legally binding contract between you (the "Customer", "you") and Masjid As-Salaam (the "Masjid", "we", "us", "our").
1.3. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.
1.4. We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time before your order is placed. The Terms in force at the time of your order will apply to that order.

In these Terms:

- "Collection Slot" means the 15-minute time window selected at checkout during which you must collect your order.
- "Collector" means the person nominated to collect the order, whether the Customer or a third party named at checkout.

4.2. The Event is collection-only. There is no delivery service. All food and beverages must be collected in person from the Event location during the Customer's selected Collection Slot.

4.4. The Event runs during the opening hours published on masjidbbq.com for each Event. Collection Slots are available within these hours, subject to availability at the time of order.
5. Placing an Order
5.1. To place an order, you must:
- be aged 18 or over (or have permission from a parent or legal guardian);
- provide accurate contact details including name, email address, and mobile phone number;
- select your menu items, quantity, and Collection Slot;
- provide accurate Collector details where a third party will collect on your behalf;
- complete payment in full through our checkout.
5.2. Orders must be placed by the Cutoff Time.
5.3. By submitting an order, you confirm that all information you have provided is accurate and complete.
5.4. We may decline to accept any order at our discretion, including (without limitation) where we have insufficient capacity, where stock has sold out, where we suspect fraud, or where the order does not comply with these Terms. If we decline an order, any payment taken will be refunded in full.
6. Order Acceptance
6.1. Your order is an offer to purchase. The contract between you and us is formed when we send you an order confirmation email.
6.2. If we are unable to fulfil your order in whole or in part after acceptance — for example, due to ingredient shortages, supplier failure, or events beyond our reasonable control — we will contact you using the email address provided and either offer a substitute, a partial refund, or a full refund for the affected items.
6.3. We may, at our discretion, substitute items of equivalent or greater value where the exact item ordered is unavailable. Where the substitute is of lesser value, you will be refunded the difference.
7. Pricing, Payment and Tips
7.1. All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP).
7.2. Payment is taken in full at the point of order through Shopify's payment processor. We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout.
7.3. Tips are entirely optional and do not affect your order. Tips received are added to the total amount used to support the Masjid (see section 15).
7.4. You are responsible for any fees, charges, or currency conversion costs your bank or card issuer applies. These are outside our control.
7.5. Pricing errors: in the unlikely event that a product is listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical, system, or human error, we reserve the right to cancel the order and issue a full refund, or to contact you to confirm whether you wish to proceed at the corrected price.
8. Collection
8.1. When and Where
8.1.1. Orders must be collected from Masjid As-Salaam, 4 New Street, Earlsheaton, Dewsbury, WF12 8JJ during the Collection Slot selected at checkout.
8.1.2. Collection Slots are 15 minutes wide. Please arrive within your slot to allow us to manage queues and prepare food at peak freshness.
8.2. Collector Identification
8.2.1. The Collector must present, on request:
- the order number and/or order confirmation email; and
- proof matching either the Customer name on the order or the Collector name nominated at checkout.
8.2.2. We reserve the right to refuse collection where the Collector cannot reasonably evidence their entitlement to receive the order. This is to protect Customers from fraudulent collection of their orders.
8.3. Late Collection
8.3.1. If you arrive outside your Collection Slot, we will make reasonable efforts to fulfil your order. However, where the Event has ended, or where ingredients have been exhausted because your slot has passed, we cannot guarantee fulfilment and no refund will be due.
8.4. Failure to Collect
8.4.1. Where an order is not collected by the end of the Event, the Customer remains liable for the full price and no refund will be issued. This is because food has been prepared specifically for the Customer for a specific date and time and cannot be resold or stored.
8.4.2. Uncollected food may, at our discretion, be redistributed to charitable causes or volunteers, but this does not create any obligation on us to do so.
8.5. Third-Party Collection Service
8.5.1. Time slot scheduling and collection management is operated through a third-party scheduling application integrated with our Shopify store. Your use of this scheduling service is also subject to the relevant third-party provider's terms (see section 24).
9. Cancellations, Changes and Refunds
9.1. No Cooling-Off Period
9.1.1. Under regulation 28 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, the standard 14-day right of cancellation does not apply to your order because:
- (a) the goods are perishable and liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly (regulation 28(1)(c));
- (b) the goods are made or prepared to your specifications (regulation 28(1)(b)); and
- (c) the contract is for catering services to be performed on a specific date (regulation 28(1)(o)).
9.1.2. By placing an order, you acknowledge and accept that you do not have a right to cancel for change of mind once your order is confirmed.
9.2. No Changes After Ordering
9.2.1. Once your order is confirmed, you cannot add items, remove items, change quantities, change menu choices, change your Collection Slot, or amend Collector details. This is because we use your order to plan ingredient quantities and prep schedules in advance of the Event.
9.2.2. If you wish to order additional items, please place a separate, new order before the Cutoff Time, subject to availability.
9.3. Faulty, Defective, or Incorrect Items
9.3.1. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Food and goods supplied by us must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described.
9.3.2. If you believe an item supplied to you is faulty, defective, contaminated, or materially different from what you ordered, please contact us within 24 hours of collection using the details in section 29, providing your order number and a description of the issue. We may request a photograph and, where reasonably practicable, the return of the affected item.
9.3.3. Where a complaint of faulty or incorrect goods is upheld, we will issue a refund for the affected item to your original payment method.
9.4. Event Cancellation by Us
9.4.1. In the unlikely event that we are required to cancel or materially postpone the Event (for example, due to circumstances described in section 21), we will notify Customers by email at the earliest opportunity and issue a full refund of all sums paid. Our liability for cancellation is limited to such refund and we will not be liable for any consequential losses (such as travel, accommodation, or related expenses).
10. Food Safety
10.1. All food is prepared in compliance with the Food Safety Act 1990, the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013, and applicable food hygiene standards.
10.2. Food is prepared fresh on the Event Date for collection during the Customer's Collection Slot. Once collected, food becomes the responsibility of the Customer, including safe transport, storage, and consumption.
10.3. We recommend that all hot food is consumed within two hours of collection. Cold items should be refrigerated promptly if not consumed immediately.
10.4. We are not liable for any deterioration in food quality or safety arising from improper storage, transport, or consumption after collection.
11. Allergens and Cross-Contamination
11.1. Important — please read carefully.
11.2. All food is prepared in a single outdoor kitchen environment where the following allergens are handled: cereals containing gluten (including wheat, barley, oats, rye), milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, soya, mustard, celery, sulphur dioxide, lupin, fish, crustaceans, and molluscs.
11.3. We cannot guarantee that any food item is free from any specific allergen due to the shared preparation environment and the possibility of cross-contamination during cooking, plating, or packaging.
11.4. Customers with severe allergies, intolerances, or anaphylactic conditions should not order from us unless they have first contacted us using the details in section 29 to discuss their requirements. Even then, we reserve the right to decline orders where we cannot reasonably guarantee a safe preparation environment.
11.5. Allergen information for individual products is available on request by emailing us before ordering.
11.6. By placing an order, you confirm that you have reviewed the potential risk of allergens provided via email and accept the cross-contamination risk described in this section. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and any other person you intend the food for are not allergic to or otherwise unable to consume any ingredient.
11.7. We cannot accept liability for any allergic reaction, intolerance, or other adverse health response arising from the consumption of food supplied by us, except to the extent that liability cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
12. Halal Certification
12.1. All meat used in the Event is sourced from suppliers who have certified the meat as halal.
12.2. We take reasonable steps to ensure the integrity of halal preparation throughout cooking.
13. Donations
13.1. The "Donation for Masjid As-Salaam" product available at checkout is a voluntary, optional donation to the Masjid. It is not goods or services and is not refundable.
13.2. Donations are made to support the work of Masjid As-Salaam, including its religious, educational, and community activities.
13.3. If you have donated and wish to discuss Gift Aid, please contact us using the details in section 29. We will provide a Gift Aid declaration form where applicable.
14. Tips
14.1. Tips left at checkout are voluntary. They are not service charges and have no effect on the quality or priority of your order.
14.2. Tips received are pooled and used to support the Masjid in accordance with section 15.
15. Use of Proceeds
15.1. 100% of sales revenue from the Event is paid to Masjid As-Salaam to support the religious, educational, and community work of the Masjid. All operating costs of the Event, including ingredients, packaging, equipment, and other expenses, are covered separately through sponsorship and volunteer contributions. No costs are deducted from sales revenue before it is paid to the Masjid. [Event on Saturday 6th June 2026 fully sponsored].
15.2. We are committed to transparency regarding the use of proceeds. A summary of receipts and contributions to the Masjid can be made available to Customers/donors on request after the Event.
15.3. The "100% to the Masjid" representation is made in good faith and on the basis of the wording set out in section 15.1 above. Customers should not interpret this representation more broadly than the express wording given.
16. Photography and Filming at the Event
16.1. Photographs and short video clips may be taken at the Event for the purposes of:
- documenting the Event for future promotional use by Masjid As-Salaam;
- sharing on the Masjid's social media channels and on masjidbbq.com.
16.2. By attending the Event (whether as a Customer, Collector, or guest), you understand that photographs may be taken in which you appear incidentally as part of a wider scene.
16.3. We will not deliberately photograph or publish identifiable images of children without parental consent.
16.4. If you do not wish to appear in promotional photography, please inform a member of the volunteer team on arrival. We will make reasonable efforts to avoid including you in photographs or to obscure your image in any published material.
16.5. To request the removal of an image of you previously published by us, contact us using the details in section 29.
17. Code of Conduct at Collection
17.1. We expect all Customers and Collectors to behave respectfully toward volunteers, staff, and other attendees.
17.2. We reserve the right to refuse collection or to remove from the premises any person who:
- behaves abusively, threateningly, or violently;
- damages property;
- attempts to interfere with the running of the Event;
- is intoxicated or under the influence of unlawful substances.
17.3. The Event takes place on the premises of a place of worship. We ask all attendees to dress and behave in a manner that respects the religious nature of the venue.
